Mitsubishi Outlander 7-seat compact crossover SUV was based on the Mitsubishi ASX (Active Sports Crossover) concept vehicle and offered in three trim levels : base ES, midgrade SE and luxury-themed XLS, with power provided by either a 2.4L DOHC MIVEC I4 (168 horsepower), or a 3.0L SOHC MIVEC V6 (220 horsepower). Four cylinder engine are outfitted with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while six cylinder models feature a Sportronic six-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control and clutchless manual shift mode.
Other features is INVECS-III continuously variable transmission (CVT), Mitsubishi's AWC system which features electronically controlled four wheel drive and stability control, 4-Wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and SIRIUS® Satellite Radio ready pre-wired.
